Weekly ARM64 live image not yet available
(too old to reply)

Hello Steve, list,

The weekly build of the GNOME live image for arm64 has not seen a
website update since 2024-07-26.
There have been 2 Mondays since then, so at least the logs should have
been updated. (Or is arm64 on a different time schedule(

Are the newer (unpublished) logs informative? At least last Monday, they
should have bailed out due to the zsync-issue, but the older logs are
still published.

With kind regards,
Roland Clobus

Hey Roland!
The weekly build of the GNOME live image for arm64 was updated to 2024-08-31
and shows that it can correctly generate an ISO file, but it looks like is
was aborted while generating the source image.
14:11 Begin with 'lb build'
02:33 Begin with the source step, the binary ISO file was generated
11:35 Terminated with 686 out of 2116 packages to go
So the binary ISO was generated in 12h22m and the source ISO was interrupted
after 9h.
Was indeed the image building process manually aborted, or was there another
cause for the 'Terminated' line in the log?
That was me killing the build manually. I started the process Friday
lunchtime and expected it to have finished that night. We needed the
build machine infrastructure for the point release.
Unfortunately, the ISO file is not available, even though it was generated.
Is that file still available and could it (manually?) be transferred to the
web page, to allow for some tests to be run on it?
Sorry, no - it was cleaned up. :-/ I'm just about to trigger a new build now.

Hello Emanuele, lists,
https://get.debian.org/images/weekly-live-builds/arm64/iso-hybrid/
I have tested it under QEMU and Hyper-V and it seems to be working well,
including Secure Boot.
Thank you and Steve for all the work done over the past months to get to
this point!
https://openqa.debian.net/tests/overview?build=20240902T081351Z_sid_gnome_arm64&distri=debian&version=sid_gnome&groupid=14
live-build-apps_startstop: nearly PASS, 'Updates available' popup prevents
timely detection of the proper login (this test is often flaky)
live-build-desktop_browser: PASS
live-build-install_to_HD_with_Calamares: the VM is slow
live-build-install_to_HD_with_di: Needs adjustment in openQA to select the
correct GRUB menu entry
live-build-postinstall_browser: skipped (follows the di installation)
live-desktop_printing: PASS
walk-boot-options: Some issues with Speech synthesis and 'Automated Install'
(similar to the issues with the netinst image)
Cool. Given how long the build takes, I'm reluctant to add it to the
normal weekly build right now. If we want to build arm64 live image(s)
regularly, then we'll need to find some native arm64 hardware to
use. There's time to make that happen, we just need to justify the
money and setup effort to get that done. If we're hoping to generate a
complete set of arm64 live images to match amd4, thet's going to need
a big machine of course.
