reassign 684946 debian-cd
retitle 684946 Please include ndiswrapper on first CD
thanks
Package: debian-installer
Version: debian-6.0.5-i386-cd1.iso
Severity: important
The cd iso installer does not install ndiswrapper correctly. One problem (there
may be more) is that the ndiswrapper.ko file is not installed. The problem is
only with the full cd installer. Using a netinstall version e.g.
debian-6.0.5-i386-netinst.iso where ndiswrapper is downloaded over a wired
internet connection installs ndiswrapper successfully. The problem seems to
extend to other distributions which rely heavily on debian e.g. Linux Mint
Debian Edition (linuxmint-201204-mate-cinnamon-dvd-32bit.iso) which also fails
to install ndiswrapper.ko. The problem seems to have existed for a long time. I
first encountered it several months ago and, then, I found several references
to the problem on the internet. I gave up on debian in frustration because I
could not get ndiswrapper to work and I needed a network connection to download
ndiswrapper - which is what I needed ndiswrapper for!!!!!!

So that becomes a debian-cd "bug". But it's also probably more and
more a bug to expect a fully featured Debian system when installing
with the first CD only.
